Hello, my name is Levi Baugess and I’m a senior here at Ohio University finishing up my degree in Recreation Management. Growing up I wanted to be a teacher and was pretty set on that idea until my Junior year here at Ohio University and decided I needed a change; this is when I stumbled across the Recreation and Sport Pedagogy Department and since then I haven’t looked back. My first class was Rec 2010 with Annie and I was hooked. Since then I have taken most of the Rec classes and although some of the most difficult classes such as Programming and Areas & Facilities they were the most rewarding and I feel I can take those skills now and translate and use them into my internship and future employment after graduation. I was given the opportunity this past summer to work for Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks as a seasonal park technician but I was able to use my hard skills that I’ve learned here at Ohio University to help with my designated park. It wasn’t until working for the park district did I finally realize my true passion lies within the park districts and that’s definitely where I hope to end up post graduation. I believe that my time here at Ohio University but more specifically, spending time with the faculty and staff of the Recreation Department, has helped and aided me
in growing my knowledge and passion for a something more than just a job but a lifelong career that I’ll love and enjoy everyday of it.
